Crossfire Kids

May-December 2017

We gave 7 children a total of 412 days of safety without $1 of government funding.  We successfully diverted a newborn from the system and have provided one year of continued after care and a safe space for the mother to grow and nurture the bond.  The RAP program currently has 2 mothers with children finding a healthier life style.

"I'm not sure what happened here, but this is the first time I have left somewhere and not felt like I was running away" Tara & Timmy 2015

"Meet the Dokken Family,
They are so committed to being a part of restoring and supporting families in trouble and believe that SFFC is a unique avenue that God has called them to.  You will not be able to spend more than a few minutes with Mindy and Steve without being compelled by their faith and belief that God can redeem the broken.  They are a breath of fresh air..." Jennifer Theisen-SFFC Program Coordinator.

"My purpose is to glorify God by protecting & nurturing children caught in the crossfire of addiction, abuse, & neglect while mentoring men of God to rise up and be the father's in Christ they are called to be." Steve Dokken

"My purpose is to glorify God by being a wife, mother, and friend that advocates for children caught in the crossfire of addiction, abuse, and neglect while supporting family reconciliation to inspire a strong family that lives passionately for Christ" Mindy Dokken

I am writing this to share my experience from being spiritually broken, homeless, and hopeless.  I had distanced myself from my loved ones, God, and myself.  I remember thinking,"what am I gonna do, there is no way out?"  I was 35 weeks pregnant and I knew I needed help, but I had no clue where to start. I remember saying to myself, "God, please let Mindy find me.  I need help and I don't know what to do."  By the grace of God, there she was the very next day.  I walked into detox and had my son in a hospital 2 weeks later.  I don't know what would have happened to me or my son without her.  She has been such a big part of my recovery, and my new outlook on life.  She believed in me when I didn't believe in myself.  Mindy is my guardian angel.

I have been dealing with my daughter’s addiction since she was 15 years old. That means many, many tears, prayers and sleepless nights spent crying and praying.

It was one thing when my daughter was out in the streets by herself. Then she became pregnant. Enter Crossfire Kids. When my daughter would slip into the depths of her addiction, Mindy and Steve Dokken would reach into that darkness to pull my granddaughter out.

Besides being in the midst of a health crisis, I have no means to procure childcare in order to take her, myself. I don’t know what I would do if she weren’t caught in the Crossfire. They kept my precious granddaughter off the streets, out of danger, and didn’t let her become another statistic in the foster care system. I can’t say enough about what they do and the heart they do it with.

Victory

Crossfire Kids have been appointed to carry mercy, grace, forgiveness, discernment, and most of All Love. I've witnessed this in their household, church, the preschool, and in social settings. They carry hearts full of desire and commitment to assist children and families of needs most would run from offering opportunities in assisting families without judgement. I'm astonished as they offer smiles, hugs, pleasant expressions even through trying times. They are the light of the WORLD while doing Christ Jesus work in their everyday life honoring and giving all the Glory to our Lord and Savior.
Thank you for all you've done and continue to do.
We love you,
The Bishops
